For years co-workers and friends alike have said about the mainstream media being biased (ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, apologies if i missed one of ya) and I have pretty much taken a "wait and see" opinion on it because for the most part the "overt" bias that is cited is inferred and not stated directly.. BUT as with everything there seems to be a glaring example that pops up and shatters your delusions. I was reading the Washington Post (a very liberal news organization) this week and came upon such an example of media bias that it left me shaking my head... It starts by saying the 2 presidential candidates (Romney most likely will be the Republican challenger) have differing ideas about the tax cuts/ tax increases needed to stimulate growth. Now mind you that my opinions notwithstanding I found the article informative UNTIL I hit the part about Romneys record in Mass. It wasnt overly nice but thats not a reporters job so I continued to read Obamas record.. (idk where, lol) unlike the Romney section the first sentence mentions Obamas plan and then that section attcks Romneys record some more... NOW THAT IS BIAS! Show me Mr Presidents record on finances so I can read it and get a firm grasp on where he stands, but nope.... they have to continually attack attack attack, smear, and attack some more. A fair shake from a news organization as respected as the Washington Post shouldnt be too much to ask for but apparently it is... Make your mind up for yourself but blatant media bias is not something that we need in this country.. unless you are the favored party of course..
